About Asia-Pacific Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists (APCLAO)

The number of contact lens wearers in the Asia-Pacific region is increasing and it is time to form the Asia-Pacific Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists (APCLAO), a society that brings together contact lens ophthalmologists in the Asia-Pacific region. The common vision amongst contact lens ophthalmologists and researchers throughout the Asia-Pacific region is to promote the exchange of knowledge on clinical, educational and research aspects of contact lenses with special relevance to the Asia-Pacific region.

Objectives of the Society

  • To unify the Asia-Pacific Ophthalmologists with contact lens practices into a cohesive and productive organization.
  • To regularly organize International and Regional Congresses and Workshops which will serve as venues for the common desire to advance our knowledge and practice of contact lenses.
  • To promote joint sponsorship of various projects among various societies.
  • To conduct studies on contact lens, refractive surgery and associated ocular conditions peculiar and more commonly found in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • To promote cordial relationship and camaraderie among its members.
  • To promote the best practice of contact lens care in the Asia-Pacific region for all patients in the region.

To provide appropriate avenues for education in contact lens fitting, care and contact lens associated ocular conditions.
